“President Obama’s now making a case for raising the debt limit. He said that raising the debt limit does not increase debt. And, you know, I got to defer to the president on this one, because when it comes to increasing the debt, Obama knows what he’s talking about,” Jay Leno said.
Leno’s “Tonight Show” joke may have gotten big laughs, but I hardly found it to be funny.
Obama’s statement defies simple mathematical logic, and it is laughable that anyone could take this man seriously. The president surely knows that the national debt grows at a rate of $4 billion each day. That he stated that raising the debt limit does not increase our debt merely proves that he is the most prodigious Prevaricator in Chief in U.S. history. Such is the audacity of a man who thinks that many of his fellow Americans are fools.
Technically, though, the president is correct: Raising the debt ceiling hardly increases “our” debt. Rather, he and his minions pass the buck. The bill for today’s largesse will not be paid by its current recipients, but aggressively plundered from our grandchildren, and their children.
Recently, the president issued an order granting seventy five percent subsidies for “Obamacare” coverage of congressmen, senators, judges, their staffs and bureaucrats galore. Not only is this another instance of generational theft, but it egregiously violates the concept of equal protection under law. Like the authoritarian pigs in (George) Orwell’s “Animal Farm,” Obama’s order indicates that indeed “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
Many will argue that only a portion of the national debt is a consequence of the policies of this administration. It is undeniable though, that under Obama, our national debt has risen faster than during any previous administration. While theft and redistribution have always been the modus operandi of our central government, the crew now in power has set the District of Corruption into overdrive.
